What is the fashion industry?
Throughout history, fashion Industry has been one of the most vital and enduring parts of human society. It helps people express their identity and social position, it tells us how to dress appropriately for different occasions and different climates, and it influences and reflects the values of the culture in which it’s produced. In other words: there is no denying the power or importance of fashion in today’s society. But what does that mean for the future? What does a world without clothes look like? How will this change who we are as individuals and as a society? These questions are what inspire my research, so I interviewed some experts on the subject to get a sense of where things might be headed.
Why is this industry important?
While the fashion industry is one of the most profitable industries in the world, it is also notorious for being one of the most taxing. With increased competition and evolving tastes, what can today’s fashion industry do to meet these challenges? The answer lies in breaking down the barriers between the designer and customer by merging into a world of vertical integration. In other words, merging these traditionally separate entities into a cohesive model where each stakeholder benefits from cooperation with one another: designers need customers, designers need garments manufactured, and manufacturers need fabric designs.
Industry and Technology
We are going to be creating fashion Industry for runway apparel and potentially for a collection of ready-to-wear. Creating this design will require some thought about the silhouettes we want to use, the type of fabric we should use, the prints and patterns, and so much more. For our design, we have decided to use a peplum silhouette as well as a sheath dress with sheer detailing at the shoulders. We are leaning towards bright colors for these garments as well as incorporating some floral prints into the pieces that would have a watercolor look. We wanted an architectural feel for this collection so we incorporated subtle geometric prints into some of the designs that are asymmetrical with one-shoulder detail in order to give them more dimension.
The Current State of the Fashion Industry
fashion Industry is constantly evolving to meet new consumer needs and preferences. By 2020, it is projected that 75% of the global population will live in urban areas with rising disposable income levels. The market has shifted to clothing that is both high quality and trendy, resulting in brands struggling to respond accordingly. What’s more, online shopping has now become mainstream. As a result of these factors, it’s becoming increasingly difficult for traditional brick-and-mortar stores to maintain themselves in a high-demand environment that favors speed over accessibility.
